The MA-5000 is Phasemation's flagship build-to-order monaural power amplifier. A pair of PSVANE WE-211 output valves operates in parallel single-ended pure Class A, driven by a transformer-coupled WE-300B stage. The result is rated at 45 watts while retaining the direct, expressive character Phasemation seeks from an all-triode, non-feedback circuit.

WE-211 parallel-single output stage

Each WE-211 receives its own fixed-bias supply, supporting stable operation and precise adjustment. A one-minute power-on timer protects the output stage during warm-up; the front indicator changes from red standby to blue when operation begins.

Transformer-coupled 300B driver

A PSVANE WE-300B is set at its optimum operating point and coupled by transformer to the WE-211 pair. The complete amplifier path uses ECC803, 300B and WE-211 triodes without global feedback. Swedish Lundahl interstage and output transformers were selected for this circuit, with the output transformer specially designed for 4-to-8-ohm loudspeakers.

Balanced input and level control

Both RCA and XLR inputs are provided. A transformer attenuator also performs balanced-to-unbalanced conversion and offers standard gain, -3 dB, -6 dB, -10 dB and input-off positions, making system matching and safe cable changes easier.

Independent power and low-noise construction

Separate power transformers feed the 300B driver and WE-211 output stages to limit mutual interference. The transformers are floated from the chassis on anti-vibration rubber. Two parallel 5R4G rectifier valves, double choke filtering and DC heating for every valve further reduce switching and heater noise.

Mechanical finishing

The front and side panels are 10 mm aluminium, supported by TAOC cast-iron feet. Furutech loudspeaker terminals include torque limiters, while the glass valve cover carries a traditional Japanese cloisonne-inspired pattern.
